It was the fifth, anniversary edition of the International Pastel Biennial hosted in Nowy Sącz from July 30 (opening day) till July 17. After the initial verification only 200 of 530 pastels remained in the contest. Among them the international jury chose the winners. The list of prize-winning works was presented officially by the founder of the Polish Pastel Society and also the initiator of the Nowy Sącz International Pastel Biennial, the local artist - Krzysztof Kuliś. The First Prize and the "Sakura - Japan" Award were granted to Ryszard Miłek.
The awarded work from this Exhibition is in the collection of The City Museum in Nowy Sącz.
The 5th International Biennial Pastel Exhibition in Nowy Sącz, Poland is one of the most important events for pastellists in 2010. Pastel Biennial 2010 hosted 530 pastels of 141 Artists from all over the world – mostly from France, but also with international participation from Artists such as Ryszard Miłek (Poland), David Garrison (USA), Vicente Romero, German Aracil and José del Riego (Spain) and Cheryl Culver (United Kingdom). There were almost 300 paintings available on display.
